In 1997, TASO's first president, Juanita Miller, had a vision for an exceptional student concerto competition. The Juanita Miller Concerto Competition is considered among the finest in the state, and provides performance opportunities and financial awards to its distinguished finalists.

COMPETITION GUIDELINES
ELIGIBILITY
o Student in grades 9-12 as of Entry Deadline date
o Legal resident in the State of Texas
o Currently studying with a private teacher. May enter only one division
o FORMER GRAND PRIZE WINNERS INELIGIBLE
o Former First Place winners ineligible to compete in same division
o A five-minute audio-only excerpt of entry concerto with live piano accompaniment is required. Either upload below using MP3 or WMA, or attach as an audio file to an email sent at the time of this application.
o No videos accepted. No audio excerpts containing verbal introductions, or other spoken words accepted. Initial screening is blind.
o $100 registration Fee
MUSIC & LIVE AUDITION
• One movement of a STANDARD CONCERTO written originally for the instrument must be performed from memory with piano accompanist.
• Finalists/call backs announced following preliminary rounds.
• FIRST PLACE division winners compete in final round for the Grand Prize.
• Contestants are responsible for engaging and compensating an accompanist for the competition, and for supplying a published copy of the concerto for the judge which will be returned at the end of competition. No copies of music accepted.
JUDGES' DECISIONS ARE FINAL! To avoid potential familiarity with any contestant, judges are from out of state.
